Description

The Storage team is responsible for all storage infrastructure in Paycom's datacenters hosting all internal business operations as well as Paycom's internally developed application. The role of Storage Administrator is to maintain the storage environment by devising strategies for data storage, developing and installing storage systems and backups, identifying errors and inconsistencies, troubleshooting, and performing regular maintenance checks to ensure the efficiency and security of storage systems. Furthermore, as a Storage Administrator, you will collaborate with other IT teams in the architecture, configuration, and maintenance of all storage related system infrastructure projects, tools and processes, as well as participate in troubleshooting, remediation, and documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIESAssist the team in the architecture planning and design of new storage array implementations and processesConfigure and tune systems for best performance, following vendor or industry best practice guidelinesWork support tickets, projects and tasks assigned to the Storage Infrastructure teamMonitor system performance and logs and provide reports for management's awareness into the technical health of Paycom's infrastructureActively monitor capacity and workloads, forecast and allocate resourcesDevelop team documentation for day to day duties and gained team knowledgeKeep systems properly configured, updated, healthy, hardened and scaled to meet the needs of the businessWork with various technology teams to pro-actively evaluate DR plans, backup requirements, and failover proceduresCommunicate with vendors to ensure we are properly licensed and up to date on renewalsBe responsible for and act as subject matter expert on any assigned systemsParticipates in on-call rotation responding to incidents and escalations as neededQualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's DegreeExperience:

4+ years of professional IT experience supporting servers and/or storage systemsExperience working in medium/large datacenter environmentsExperience with implementation and maintenance of SAN and NAS appliances, such as Pure, HPE Nimble, or Dell using iSCSI/FC/NVMe-oFAbility to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of Storage and Backup InfrastructureExperience in system monitoring tools and techniques for supporting SAN, NAS and Backups operations, alerting and remediationSkills/Abilities:

Basic knowledge across multiple infrastructure technologies - Storage, SAN Fabric, and Recovery servicesWorking knowledge of storage concepts such as RAID technology, tiering, replication, snapshotsKnowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vCenter/ESXiLinux or Windows server administrationWorking knowledge of enterprise storage systems and protocols (SMB/CIFS/NFS/iSCSI)Using a log aggregation tool, such as Splunk, for troubleshooting and reportingData retention and capacity planningExcellent oral and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skillsStrong organization and analysis skillsStrong focus on quality and customer serviceMust be able to prioritize workStrong analytical and practical problem-solving skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science or related fieldsVMware VCP/VCAP/VCDXMTA/MCSE or current equivalentSCSN-E/EMCSA or similar storage certificationExperience:

Experience with automation technologies including scripting: Python, BASH, Perl, PowerShell, etc.Familiar with object storage/S3 protocol and its usage with modern applicationsData copy or replication tools such as robocopy/rsync/emcopy/etcExperience with disaster recovery as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques, including disk replication, snapshots and disaster recovery best practicesMonitoring, Tuning, Troubleshooting hardware and performance metricsWorking knowledge of Windows or Linux OSSkills/Abilities:

Kubernetes, Containers and Cloud Native Technologies (CNCF)Working knowledge of security, networking, and firewall componentsExperience with VDI/VMware HorizonKnowledge of blade server hardware, such as UCSMulti-node system architecture planning and designSystem performance tuning
