Job Summary:

To learn the correct procedures to apply prime and finish coat to a variety of aircraft.

Completions Painter A may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of

Completions Painter B and Completions Painter C.

Job Responsibilities:

Works from oral and written instructions and established shop practices to acquire the skills

necessary to apply a uniform base coat to a variety of aircraft. Uses judgment in maintaining

desired finish to spray paint complete aircraft.

Acquires the knowledge of all paint preparation procedures including sand and fill,

stripping/refurbishment, and paint detail processes.

Acquires the knowledge necessary to regulate and adjust spraying equipment to obtain

the required quality finish and economy of paint.

Learns to perform the more complicated overall aircraft spray painting assignments

and/or regularly performs rework on completed aircraft under the guidance of Supervision

and higher grade painters.

Uses conventional air and HVLP spray painting equipment and is familiar with airless spray

painting equipment. Uses simple hand tools and some measuring equipment (i.e. a Zahn cup).

Ascertains whether paint spraying equipment is in good operating order before and after spray

painting assignments.

Visually checks surface for discrepancies in paint to assure conformity to desired specifications

and learns to perform complicated rework.

Works in accordance with general safety procedures to avoid accidents. Maintains protective

safety equipment such as goggles, masks and respirators in proper working order which may

include cleaning and replacing filters.

Responsible for own work and the quality of own work.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification to

interpret written specifications, verbal instructions, and apply simple math. Knowledge of proper mixing of

epoxy primers and paint.

Experience:

Over one year up to three years aircraft spray painting or equivalent experience. Must include experience

painting overall top coat on completed aircraft.
