The Office of Superintendent of Insurance regulates all insurance companies doing business in the State of New Mexico. Its role is to enforce all New Mexico laws and regulations applicable to insurance companies doing business within the state for the protection of New Mexico residents utilizing insurance company products and services.
Interviews will be conducted within two (2) weeks of the position closing.
Why does the job exist?
The Network Administrator III position manages, plans, designs, implements, and supports a wide range of network infrastructure and technologies for the division, ensuring that secure, scalable, and robust network services are readily available for the 2 OSI locations. This position works with a team to manage and monitor the various Palo Alto Firewalls.
How does it get done?
Plans for LAN/WAN/WLAN, data center, VPN, disaster recovery, and Cloud networking technology advancements, including network security mechanisms. Develops a scalable road-map to align current-day technology with network device capabilities and/or enhancements that adhere to set standards. Leads the integration of network device enhancements and coordinates faulty device replacements. Maintains hardware operability and analyzes and distributes vendor recommended code and software versions, mitigating any security threat vulnerabilities. Develops strategies to integrate firewall distribution points at designated network segments. Designs, plans, and executes work to optimize the resiliency of network services. Maintains and distributes VPN client packages and composes appropriate security policies for approved users, ensuring that secure remote connectivity services are provided. Coordinates with external parties as necessary to establish external/ISP connectivity and alternate paths to maintain resilience. Monitors and analyzes bandwidth and throughput utilization to plan network capacity. Executes controls to provide optimal services for end-users. Develops, maintains, and executes security policies at firewall distribution points. Actively coordinates with OSI and external cybersecurity subject matter experts to evaluate the OSI security posture and proactively implement mitigation strategies and actions. Cooperate and coordinate with the DoIT team to conduct periodic penetration tests and facilitate monthly authenticated security scans
This position will also be tasked with backing up the System Administrator.This would include:1. Assist with installing and the configuration all licensed OSI needed software packages.2. Assist with the coordination of needed system updates.3. Comply in a timely fashion to IT system requests.4. Monitor and verify system backups.5. Manage the physical environment of the server racks including cable management, documentation.6. Diagnose and resolve problems and concerns associated with implemented information systems, network software applications and peripheral devices reported by OSI users.7. Manage and monitor the various Palo Alto Firewalls.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a dedicated Network Administrator that is proficient in network design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cyber security mitigation. The candidate will also have in-depth experience working with various networking products and tools (hardware and software), such as switches, routers and firewalls. This candidate should also have a good understanding of system infrastructure and configurations. The candidate should have a working knowledge of Palo Alto firewall management.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and four (4) years of experience in network administration and design. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess a valid New Mexico Driver¿s license, a current defensive driving course certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass Defensive Driving Course Certificate within six months of the date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage and sitting for extended periods of time, some standing, bending, and reaching may be required. May be exposed to cramped areas, dust and noise. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Occasional travel maybe required. This position is expected to travel as needed to meet the networking/support needs of the organization. Occasionally some tasks may require working outside of the normal 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday business hours.
