Summary
Under administrative direction, is responsible for supporting Bexar County Information Technology team; will support the mission of the County, ensuring successful delivery of IT services as defined in the duties and responsibilities. This position will represent the County in a professional and effective manner and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general public. Flexibility to achieve performance excellence in a telework arrangement.
This position is Excluded from Civil Service
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as subject matter expert, individually motivated and operating with a sense of urgency and personal accountabilityCarries out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirementsTests software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defectsDocuments and works to resolve all problemsReports progress on problem resolution to managementDevises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurationPerforms work flow analysis and recommends quality improvementsAssists testers with tests to be executed as part of the software development processWorks with technical services and end users to coordinate production software releasesEnsures appropriate training and end user awareness prior to production software useImproves software quality through testing and advocacy with a constant focus on the end user experienceVerifies requirements traceability matrix with test informationAssists business units in the development of test cases for UATMaintains strict adherence to all standard policies and proceduresWorks closely with the requirements analyst and the application development teamsEnsures that any potential issues are identified and resolved before the software is live in the production environmentCoordinates the migration of software to production and ensures that end users are appropriately prepared for production usePerforms other related technology duties and projects as assignedMinimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 1-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceProfessional experience working with different SDLC methodologies, such as Waterfall and AgileExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills; skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail, organize, and maintain efficient files and records; skill and proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or other software applications to retrieve data, create spreadsheets, and reportsDemonstrated ability to analyze problems/issues, gather data and information, evaluate and recommend alternative solutions; ability to prioritize multiple projects and to independently meet deadlines and complete tasks in an accurate manner; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse staff and customers; ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner across functional and technical departments, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, stakeholders, County employees, Elected/Appointed Officials, outside organizations and agencies, vendors and the general publicDemonstrates technological intuitivenessMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testRequired to be on call 24 hoursMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweekMay be required to work weekendsThis position may need to satisfy the requirement of completing and passing an assessment during the employment processWorking Environment and Physical Demands:
