Position Summary:
The Data Analyst is responsible for healthcare record reviews and data abstractions. Ensures data is accurate, reliable, and reported timely. Performs analysis and reports, collaborates with other departments and provides appropriate feedback to create effective and sustained change. The Data Analyst uses independent judgment and assists/facilitates the stroke coordinator or designee to meet service line objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Regularly Analyzes confidential healthcare records and data abstraction, data entry, coding monitoring, data quality control and analysis related to regulatory initiatives and special projects.Completes abstraction of data using clinical knowledge and judgment skills in order to abstract accurate, reliable clinical information on established quality measures for tracking, trending and reporting.Specializes in data management for the neurosurgery, neurology, and interventional radiology service lines as it relates to required outcomes for continued stroke certifications.Uses continuous quality improvement tools and methodologies to ensure data integrity of the performance improvement related databases.Maintain current knowledge and changes regarding CMS and the Joint Commission standard requirements for data management.Works collaboratively with the team to identify, measure, assess and improve patient care quality and safety, specifically in relation to the stroke service lines.Analyzes confidential patient healthcare records reviewing pertinent documentation, interprets clinical data, identifies variation in care/or utilization based on research, clinical knowledge of disease processes and appropriate treatment modalities, extracting relevant data, summarizing findings, and maintain accurate records of all reviews performed.Analyzes and trends the results of monitoring activities by service, hospital center/department and physician under the direction of the stroke coordinator.Creates, analyze, and distribute reports for the Stroke Committee and Stroke Medical Director to assist in performance improvement processes as well as to be utilized in the physician quality performance profile and re-credentialing process.Maintains confidential databases, and ensures timely reporting to regulatory agencies.Ensures data integrity by the utilization of the Inter Rater Reliability (IRR) validation process. Working knowledge of evidence based stroke measure and the ability to abstract data according to regulatory guidelines. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assignedRequired Qualifications :
Experience:
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.Education:
High school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree in related field is strongly preferred.Skills:
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.Ability to understand and follow instructions.Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.Credentials
