JOB TITLE:
Crossing GuardREPORTS TO:
Principal/Hoover City Schools Police LiaisonJOB GOAL:
To provide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:•High School diploma or equivalent•Ability to read and understand written instructions•Ability to effectively communicate verbally•Ability to positively interact with children•Ability to recognize problems and execute corrective actions•Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions•General knowledge of traffic signals, traffic patterns and behavior, and school safety procedures•Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457•Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, and goals2. Escorts children across roadways or intersections while holding a STOP sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles3. Participates in Crossing Guard training and other professional development as requested4. Reports unsafe behavior, including traffic violations, to the School Resource Officer5. Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws6. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)
