Position Overview

Pantheon Data has a need for a Software Developer with expertise in Java and experience running applications on IBM WebSphere Application Servers with DB2 databases. The ideal candidate will play an important role in the strategic migration of large legacy applications to the AWS GovCloud, tailored for our federal clients.Responsibilities

Develop and migrate Java-based applications from IBM WebSphere Application Servers to AWS cloud.

Work with DB2 databases and ensure their smooth transition and integration into the cloud environment.

Apply DevOps principles to streamline application migration and deployment processes.

Adhere to federal compliance and security standards in all development and migration activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion.

Identify potential challenges and compatibility issues related to cloud migration.

Develop comprehensive migration strategies and plans for each application.

Modify applications as needed to align with AWS infrastructure and best practices.

Optimize code for performance and scalability within the cloud environment.

Integrate applications with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and others.

Leverage AWS tools and SDKs to effectively manage and deploy applications.

Conduct unit and performance testing to ensure migrated applications function as intended within the AWS Cloud.

Prioritize security and compliance measures throughout the migration process.

Work closely with various engineering teams.

Communicate technical progress and challenges clearly to stakeholders.

Document processes and best practices for reference during future cloud migrations.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience with Java development and familiarity with IBM WebSphere Application Servers and DB2 databases.

Experience migrating applications to cloud environments, preferably to AWS.

Knowledge of DevOps practices, including experience with Git and related tooling.

Background in developing applications in federal environments with stringent security requirements.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Effective communication and ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and AWS services.

AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate) are a plus.

Clearance Requirements

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

United States - Remote

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $105,600 - $132,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
