POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of ledgers and financial systems as well as assisting in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year end closing. The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by reviewing financial reports prepared by accountants.

Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trendsDocuments financial transactions by entering account informationSubstantiates financial transactions by auditing documentsGuides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questionsMaintains financial security by following internal controls and promotes ethical environmentPrepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursementsMaintains financial security by following internal controls and promoting ethical environmentMaintains investor confidence and protects operations by maintaining confidentialityReconciles monthly bank statements and is responsible for cash managementUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizationsReviews financial reports completed by accountants and ensures that all deadlines are met within their portfolioLiason between lenders, developers and equity partners regarding monthly development operations and funding requestAssists with year end reporting including, but not limited to annual filings, audits and tax returnsPerforms other duties as assignedSPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance requiredCPA certification preferred, but not required3-5 years of accounting experiencePHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
