Unit: MS/Ortho32 beds in the unitNurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1 (with 2-3 PCTs on day shift)Common diagnoses/Types of patients include post-op: colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, etc. AND Chemo/Oncology patientsExperience in strong post-op assessment and time management skills - high patient turnover unitRNs are not required to titrate dripsCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: PCAsCharge nurse does not take assignment but may help administer chemo on/off the unitNurse aids available on day shift - usually have 12-14 patients eachRT Equipment includes Cpap, high flow for palliative care patients onlyNo tele/monitor techs on unit, RNs are not required to read their own stripsCharge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse does not take assignmentFloating Requirements: Yes, to other med/surg/tele unitsScrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: navy blueUnit/Department specific orientation: Yes - 2 shifts with a preceptorAdditional Details
Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (with 2 max attempts).There is also a pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions.Our unit is also equipped/prepped to admit appropriate patients to hall/overflow space and may need to prep some rooms to 'double-bunk'
