POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Athletic Trainer under the supervision of a licensed physician's direction and the Director of Sports Medicine, develops and manages athletic training programs to prevent injuries, restore function, and enhance performance. They will work across various settings, including schools, sporting events, BMX, club hockey, rodeo, and clinics, contributing to injury prevention, wellness, emergency care, rehabilitation in collaboration with the sports medicine team, and may interface with the local EMS.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be required.Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.Attention to Detail: Athletic trainers should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations with patients, medical professionals, staff and families.Must have strong oral communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension).Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

Works closely with the Director of Sports Medicine and sports medicine team to grow regional business by implementing prioritized action plans in collaboration with community partners.May service as the point of contact between clinic/hospital and local school systems, BMX, club hockey, rodeo, etc.Establishing, building and maintaining strategic relationships with physicians, hospital administration, athletic directors, athletes, and families/parents.Demonstrates excellent customer service utilizing AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Eye Contact / Explain, and Thank) in all interactions.Responsible for promoting and marketing sports medicine programs and services as well as reviewing the sports medicine portion of the website to ensure it always remains relevant.Provide education and training to athletes, athletic staff, community members, and health care professionals.Assists in developing the budget for the sports medicine department.Evaluates sports-related injuries, creating personalized care plans that include treatment, rehabilitation, and education.Documents evaluations in an electronic medical record and uses best practices for concussion management.Ensures safety protocol compliance and adapts techniques based on individual athlete needsMay also perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must complete a background check and drug screening.Must be BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in North DakotaDrivers License and reliable transportation required.Previous experience preferred but willing to trainBachelors degree preferredMust be able to lift 50lbs.
