This is a significant opportunity for a proven retail leader to help us continue to grow our brand as we build on our success and focus on delivering the best retail cannabis experience in California.The Velvet General Manager is responsible for overseeing all dispensary operations and works closely with the executive team to provide direction and leadership towards our mission, strategy, goals, and objectives. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a general manager, excellent people skills, a genuine passion for the cannabis industry and a commitment to building a world class retail experience.Responsibilities:
Ensures the store’s environment and customer experience reflect Velvet’s vision and values.Provides strategic direction and thoughtful leadership to the retail organization, with a strong understanding of the market and customer needs, as well as anticipating future needs based on sales and growth.Maintains a presence on the sales floor in order to effectively coach and support the retail team.Maximizes retail productivity, sales, and profit, while continuously improving our standards and methods of operation.Implements techniques that improve productivity, increase efficiencies, enhance the customer experience, and maintain best in class procedures.Works closely with the marketing and social media team to communicate store brand presence, incentives, events, and product offerings.Identifies KPIs, trends, and opportunities to define changes in processes and procedures that drive operations and selling agendas.Proactively collects customer feedback and uses it to implement new product offerings.Analyzes P&L reports and adapts to make decisions with improvement in mind.Stays up to date on changing trends and current market demand for product offerings, ensuring dispensary teams are ready to deliver on our customer’s needs.Leads by example creating a personal, customer focused, and service-oriented approach to service.Ensures dispensary and personnel are in accordance with company policy and state regulations, in all operations, processes, inventory management and protocol.Develops training and reinforces service, product, operations, and management expectations through training, coaching and development of the Velvet team.Maintains a presence in the California cannabis industry networking events and trade associations.Ensures operational priorities, processes and procedures are communicated, understood and consistently followed and executed.Manages staffing levels and headcount to ensure productivity and profitability of the store.Background and Experience
Dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience, consistently ensuring high levels of service and satisfaction within the retail environment.2-4 years of experience as a General Manager with a strong enthusiasm for retail operations, bringing a strategic approach to maximizing store performance and driving growth.Committed to team coaching and development, fostering a positive and motivated environment to enhance individual growth and achieve team success.Strong advocate for consumer education, particularly in conveying product benefits, with expertise in guiding customers through informed, positive purchasing decisions.Experienced in new store openings and familiar with the demands and requirements of launching new retail locations (preferred but not essential).Proficient in personnel management and retail operations, including comprehensive knowledge in inventory control, loss prevention, Point of Sale systems, merchandising, customer service, and budget management.Strong understanding of California Cannabis Law (or a commitment to mastering it thoroughly) to ensure compliance and informed operations.Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear, effective interactions with team members and customers alike.Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, enabling effective team collaboration and efficient store management.This leader has high energy, a positive attitude, and a sense of urgency with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving; adaptable and open to coaching with a strong desire to support wherever needed.At Velvet Cannabis, we're committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience.
