TITLE: Accountant
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
This position is open to any qualified INDIVIDUAL regardless of sex, race, age, color, religion, national origin or disability.
Position purpose:
The accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze and/or reconcile assigned General Ledger accountsReview, maintain, initiate and request Certificates of InsuranceReview and repair daily discrepancies between finished goods on hand and supporting pallet quantitiesReconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable general ledger to supporting subsidiariesReconcile monthly sales reports to general ledgerPrepare and post journal entriesReview monthly maintenance parts costsPrepare monthly state and federal milk reportsEstablish costs for milk PO purchasesGenerate monthly intercompany reportReconcile monthly third party billings for employee benefit premiums to the general ledgerFixed asset accountingAnalyze clearing account and rectify errorsMaintain analysis of utility expensesGenerate monthly Operations reportsBanking duties as assignedPrepare annual vendor and buyer ethics mailingInitiate and finalize annual review of maintenance parts for obsolescenceComplete and file annual State unclaimed property reportProvide outside auditors with assistance, gathering necessary account information and documents for annual auditMonthly rebate accruals and reconciliationsMaintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and proceduresPerform other related duties as assignedOn-site/In office work onlySKILLS REQUIREDExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailKnowledge of general financial accounting and cost accountingUnderstanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principlesProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting softwareEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field requiredAt least two years of related accounting experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
