Position Highlights
The Lovejoy Center for Bridging Biodiversity, Conservation Science, and Policy is a newly endowed center housed within the Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona and seeks a motivated Program Coordinator to manage a variety of operational and administrative activities. The Program Coordinator is a new position that will work closely with the director, staff, and researchers to build and maintain programs that advance biodiversity research and conservation efforts for science-based policy and decision-making, and educate, mentor, and invest in the next generation of conservation scientists and leaders. Activities include coordinating research and community-engagement efforts; managing Lovejoy Center communications and public outreach efforts; planning programs, symposia, and training sessions; and collecting, synthesizing, and reporting Lovejoy Center project updates and achievements. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in biodiversity and conservation science.
The Lovejoy Center for Bridging Biodiversity, Conservation Science, and Policy advances research, knowledge exchange, and evidence-informed decision-making and hosts fellowships focused on conservation, biodiversity, and science policy. The scope of the problems and solutions related to biodiversity loss span diverse disciplinary approaches and ways of knowing, and the Lovejoy Center aims to fill a critical gap in fostering inter- and transdisciplinary research and education for positive societal impact.

Duties & responsibilities:* Work with the director, staff, and researchers to coordinate research and community engagement efforts on varied issues and topics related to biodiversity, conservation science, and science policy.* Assist in creating and managing external Lovejoy Center communications, requiring innovation and use of knowledge of subject matter related to Lovejoy Center's overarching goals.* Collect and synthesize information monthly and annually from Lovejoy Center programs about progress toward objectives, with moderate guidance from the program director and staff.* Provide operational support for the Lovejoy Center team by creating and managing internal communications using current practice and standards for team coordination and planning.* Communicate with Lovejoy Center program funders and similar research programs about varied issues that align with Lovejoy Center program objectives.* Additional duties may be assigned.Knowledge, skills & abilities:* Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.* Strong organizational skills.* Ability to coordinate and plan in-person and online events.* Skill in coordinating and convening diverse community members and interest groups.* Basic knowledge of, and interest in, biodiversity and conservation issues.* Familiarity with grant writing and grant management.* Familiarity with creating content and using social media platforms for program-related outreach.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience related to program administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
