Job Description

The Department of Management (DOM) is seeking aHuman Resources Associateto join our team!

In this role you will be a key player in managing payroll processes and providing comprehensive HR support. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll administration, assisting with employee onboarding, and maintaining personnel records. Your contributions will help us foster a supportive workplace for our employees!

Please note, our team collaborates primarily in-office, however some remote work is anticipated.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management

Create, monitor, and assist with Workday business processes for payroll operations, including reinstatement, benefit changes, pay changes, promotions, and more.

Serve as an approval level for employee time reporting and address payroll inquiries from employees and supervisors.

Verify preliminary and final payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Distribute payroll warrants as requested.

Agency Management Assistance

Coordinate and track background checks for employees in compliance with agency policies.

Enroll employees in training programs and maintain accurate training records.

Manage personnel, medical, and hiring files, ensuring secure access and confidentiality.

Assist with employee benefits, including health, dental, and life insurance, and provide information during enrollment periods.

Onboarding Support

Coordinate background checks for new hires and ensure the completion of all necessary documentation.

Assist new employees and their managers with onboarding processes, ensuring timely completion of all forms and policy signoffs.

Background Check Requirements:

After a conditional offer of employment has been made, and as the final step in the hiring process, candidates for this position will be subject to a background investigation, which may include but may not be limited to a verification of a candidate’s education, previous employment/work history, contact of personal references, motor vehicle records, and a criminal history check (including through Federal, State, or Local criminal justice agencies).

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Four years of full-time work experience in administrative support, at least two years of which were in a human-resources-related program area.

2) All of the following (a, b, and c):

a. One year of full-time work experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area; and

b. A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

c. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience in general administrative support, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

3) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Human Resources Technical Assistant, Human Resources Technical Specialist, Secretary (any level), or Administrative Assistant (any level).
