This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
This position exists to assist with the lifecycle tasks related to desktop and laptop computers, currently an installed base of approximately 37,000 devices. These tasks include, but are not limited to: preparation, imaging, operating system and application installation, transfer of user settings and data, placement on the customer’s desk, onboarding of the customer to the new computer, retrieval of the customer’s previous computer, sanitization and removal of computer hardware.
This position will perform assigned work in a variety of workplace environments. This includes but is not limited to large multi-tenant office buildings, regional field offices, correctional facilities, elected official offices, laboratories, warehouses and public use spaces.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at the work location, but may be eligible for telework in the future.
Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota..
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
*This position requires some travel to State of Minnesota office locations throughout the state, including occasional overnight stays. This requires a valid driver's license for travel between agency-based offices. Estimated travel is 50%.
Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of one (1) year of IT desktop technical support experience.
Experience must include:
Experience connecting and installing software and hardware.
Experience setting up desktops and laptops.
Experience troubleshooting software and hardware (e.g. A+ certification).
Experience imaging desktops and laptops for deployments (e.g. SCCM, Ghost or Acronis).
Experience working with incident logging, work tracking systems for retrieving ticket queue for work orders. (e.g. Remedy onDemand, Footprints, or ServiceNow).
Experience with Windows Client Operating Systems (e.g. Windows 7 and Windows 10).
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
An associate’s degree or higher in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for one (1) year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to translate technical information for non-technical staff.
Good organizational skills, ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal skills.
Physical Requirements
Requires moving/lifting devices such as desktops, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations (Desk to desk or from one agency site to another), lifting devices up on to storage shelves (Above head (25 lbs)) and being able to gain access under desks (crawl).
