About the Opportunity:

The Director of Advanced Analytics will define the advanced analytics roadmap, foster internal data science capabilities, coordinate product development efforts with technical expertise, identify priority use cases through cross-functional collaboration with leaders to drive business impact, establish and problem-solve effective operating models, manage talent, create data governance standards, and promote analytics awareness and insights across all business units. The Director will be the leader of a growing team of data scientists and business analysts that will execute the use cases outlined in the roadmap.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategy and Roadmap DevelopmentTimely and effective development and alignment of advanced analytics use case roadmap across business units and functions.Partner with and influence business verticals to understand strategic needs & translate them into analytics use cases; ability to communicate insights across business units.Help Business Units project impact from use cases to prioritize on high value use casesEnsure efficient operating model with business units and Information Technology to form use case squads with all necessary talent.Oversee, brainstorm, and problem-solve on high impact projects.Monitor pilot results and productionalize successful pilots.Quantify business value achieved.Productivity Management

Ensure proper standards and tooling to drive productivity.Ensure effective operating model with Business Units and Information Technology to decrease time to pilot and production.Act as a point of escalation for use case squads to remove blockers across the organization.Engage in daily standups to problem solve with analysts on most effective path to a solution for the business.Manage and optimize pipeline and balance of team capacity.Oversee design of advanced analytics learning program for relevant employee groups.Ensure continuous improvement and refinement of topics covered.Data Integration and Management

Oversee data strategy implementation ensuring high quality data is available.Deep technical knowledge/experience in order to effective direct large team toward business priorities.Effectively engage with data engineering team to ensure data needs are met.Talent Development

Build strong value proposition for data scientists and clear career growth potential.Source talent through relevant traditional and non-traditional channels.Develop and retain top talent, engage to solve cultural issues and ensure healthy staff engagementRequirements & Qualifications:

8+ years of advanced analytics experience and 4+ years leading a high-performance teamDeep experience in agile working environment with experience leading analytics projects; experience building new functionExtensive experience in directing large high-performing teams and prior experience managing a technology / data science function directlyDeep understanding of data analysis, statistics, and data modelingAbility to create a collaborative environmentStrong business acumen to align analytics initiatives with organizational goalsProficiency in conveying complex data insights to non-technical stakeholdersFamiliarity with analytics tools and technologies, including big data platforms, machine learning, and data visualization tools. Specific experience with PowerBI, Tableau, and Superset.Ability to cross-communicate across business units to drive business growthPractical and action-orientedStrong leadership skills and ability to direct and inspireCompelling communicatorAbility to develop and grow team membersComfortable navigating large datasets and a demonstrated willingness to be hands-onExperience with digital, marketing, operational, human resource, and financial data setsDeep technical expertiseTravel and Transportation experience preferredAbout Us:
