Title: Assistant Director of Admission - First-Year
Status: Full-time, salary - exempt
Work Schedule: 8:30 am to 5 pm (M-F), includes some evenings and weekends
Job Summary: Reports to the Director of Undergraduate Admission and participates in the full range of college admission responsibilities: traveling to secondary schools and college fairs; performing administrative duties; interviewing prospective students; reviewing applications and assuming other projects as assigned. Program planning and implementation with budget responsibility and accountability for program assignments. Sets office priorities in consultation with the Director and VP for Enrollment Management. Will assist the Director and VP for Enrollment Management with long-range planning pertaining to individual program responsibility. Leadership role in supporting the Director and mentoring others on staff. High degree of visibility and contact with persons on and off campus. May serve as admission representative on select University committees. Will demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all students and perform duties in accordance with the values of a private comprehensive institution.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: The following duties are not to be considered a complete list of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.• Offers moderate expertise with territory management, with travel to secondary schools, college fairs and related recruitment events• Conducts appropriate research on territory to meet goals and objectives• Responsible for the evaluation and management of applicants• Interviews prospective students and their families• Provides the highest level of customer service• Program planning and implementation, with budget responsibility and accountability• Assists students and families with basic financial aid processes and procedures• Increased supervision of student workers and volunteers• May assist the director with special projects• May assist with the recruitment of student-athletes• May assist with the development of social media initiatives for the Admission Office• Potentially represents Enrollment Services on select University committees, with regular contact with other internal departments; may include presenting, collecting and sharing information• Supports efforts to move the office forward in a positive, productive manner• Adheres to all college and departmental policies
Qualifications:• 2-3 years of previous college admission experience preferred, with increasing responsibility.• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.• Extremely well developed and specialized admission knowledge in a designated program area (e.g., operations, athletics, financial aid).• Financial aid knowledge and comprehension related to financial aid awarding practices, FAFSA completion and other related federal student aid processes and procedures is not required but preferred.• Understanding and comprehension of NCAA practices and policies, preferably within NCAA Division III, is not required but preferred.• Use of social media skills in recruiting is not required but preferred.• Excellent public speaking, communication, customer service, complex decision-making, analytical and organizational skills.• A commitment to the value and mission of a comprehensive education.• Ability to travel for recruiting purposes and work evenings and weekends.• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license, pass the University's Decision Driving Program, and maintain insurability under the University's vehicle insurance plan.• Strong time management skills; ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) and student information systems.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Other than admission travel responsibilities, work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
