Come join our team as an Employment Specialist Menands with Northeast Career Planning a division of Unity House of Troy. Assist those with disabilities to locate, obtain, and maintain competitive employment!
Salary based upon experience and degree
Responsibilities:
Develop a positive working relationship with program participants.
Identify appropriate employment opportunities through skills testing.
Assist with obtaining employment through resume development, interview preparation and active employer engagement.
Have and/or gain knowledge of barriers to employment faced by participants with disabilities. Discuss how to accommodate for those barriers, and how to advise/educate an employer regarding those barriers.
As participants become employed, assist with maintaining on or off-site job coaching/training and job retention support.
Maintain ongoing communication with participants as needed by regularly checking in
Accurately complete necessary documentation in a timely manner.
Possess and/or gain knowledge of the local labor market and actively engage with potential employers to develop job opportunities.
Participate in activities that contribute to professional growth and development, maintain professionalism, integrity and accuracy in the performance of all agency duties as detailed in agency employee handbook.
Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Requirements:
An Associate’s Degree in a relevant field and related work experience will be considered. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and related experience working with individuals with disability is preferred. Must have reliable transportation. Valid NYS driver’s license is required as driving is a part of this position. Solid customer services skills or have relevant counseling training/experience. Must be able to effectively organize, prioritize and use your time wisely.
