Tesla is looking for a Senior IP Paralegal to join our Commercial Legal team. In this role, you will primarily partner with the IP Legal team in protecting and enforcing Tesla's IP rights on a global basis. As needed, you will also partner with the Supply Chain and Energy Products legal teams in supporting other business units, such as Tesla's Global Supply Chain, Sales and Operations teams.The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of IP law, including patent and trademark application and filing processes. The successful candidate must also be detail-oriented and be able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position will be based in one of Tesla's offices in the Bay Area of California or at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

Manage IP portfolio data, including patent and trademark application filingsManage IP docket data, including application renewals andoffice action responses, and generate docket reports for attorneys and internal technical teamsManage internal invention disclosure system, including patent prioritization process, and coordinate inventor meetings with outsidecounselManage annuity payments for IP matters and maintain proof of use catalogs to support trademark applicationsServe as on-site notary for inventor documents and powers of attorney for IP filingsSupport execution of Tesla standard contracts, including brand licensing and non-disclosure agreementsManage Commercial legal team budget, invoicing procedures through Legal Tracker, and legal support ticketing system as well as the commercial team mailboxRequirements

10+ years of paralegal experience, including specific work with patent data and docketing (experience with IPfolio software strongly preferred)Prior in-house experienceActive notary publicExcellent communication skillsTeam player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively identify problems and propose pragmatic/creative solutionsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environmentQuick and flexible learner with well-honed analytical skills, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, and excited by dynamic changeCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

$72,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
