All positions at the public education department are based in Santa Fe however some may operate through our Albuquerque office based on home address and space availability.

Why does the job exist?
This position exists to implement, enhance and refine data collection, validation and reporting for K-12 education data. This position is also responsible for the information technology infrastructure needed for agency operations, and for collaboration among state agencies for the development and implementation of shared data systems.
How does it get done?
1) Vision and Implementation: set the vision for PED IT, work through structural, personnel, process, and technical challenges to achieve vision.2. Leadership and Management: help build capacity for change and improvement, coordinate with other leaders within PED, develop resources and manage budget, direct and support IT managers and serve as spokesman for the IT division.3. Stakeholder Engagement: manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, manage data governance and cross agency collaborations regarding data, communicate effectively with stakeholders to improve systems and build support for agency initiatives.4. Continuous Improvement: develop metrics and tracking of IT progress and ensure data quality and timeliness are improving.

The job is done to support data reporters and users across the educational landscape, including the PED, districts, charter schools and other external stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate may have:(1) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;(2) Ability to regularly provide constructive feedback to staff;(3) Experience in database design, data structures, and data governance;(4) Excellent communication skills, oral and written; and(5) Prior experience serving as chief information officer of a large organization.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and ten (10) years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Applications Development, IT Architecture, Data Management, Network Administration, Project Management, IT Security/Compliance, or Systems Administration. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
