Job Announcement:
The City of Webster Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Fire Officer. Webster is located on the south side of Houston, Texas with a population of approximately 12,000 permanent residents. While this number may seem small, our community has a daily influx of people who work and shop in our city, which brings our daily population up to 150,000.
Fire Officers supervise and participate in fire suppression, medical first response and administrative functions. Shall have the ability to work under stressful conditions, meet time deadlines, and communicate effectively. This position requires knowledge of firefighting, hazardous materials, instruction techniques, human relations, City fire codes, and emergency medical knowledge.
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of the job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain on the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
A valid Texas Class B (Exempt) Driver's License
TCFP Structure Fire Protection- Intermediate (Advanced Preferred)
TCFP Driver/Operator
TCFP Aerial/Operator
TCFP Fire Officer I
TCFP Instructor I
Minimum of 5-years'experience as a Driver/Operator or supervisory role
TDHS EMT- Paramedic
TCFP- Inspector
Special Requirements:
Must complete within 1 year of appointment:
TCFP Incident Safety Officer
TCFP Instructor II
Must complete within 2 years of appointment:
TCFP Fire Officer II
This is an Essential Services position, and the employee will be required to provide services in the course and scope of employment for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Webster's citizens per the City's Emergency Services Guidelines.
