District Safety and Security Manager
will ensure a high degree of protection, safety and security for students, personnel, visitors, and property, by supporting and/or coordinating security programming at the campus and district level across all BTCSI schools. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Identifies necessity for updated plans (physical and behavioral), facilitates programs and initiatives of a prevention and intervention nature, which improve the safety and security of the school system.Develops, updates, and maintains policies, procedures, guidelines and training programs for improving the safety of students, staff and visitors to school facilities and extracurricular activities.Updates and distributes copies of school safety and emergency response plans to all school service emergency providers.Plans and coordinates systematic education and training programs to increase emergency awareness and preparedness among staff/students and teaches emergency response skills to core staff within the Charter School Network.Serves as an advisor to senior management, other leadership, and school personnel in matters relating to providing a safe and orderly school environment.Audits campus-level security performance, including evaluating the consistency and effectiveness of campus safety practices and drills. Conducts yearly campus intrusion tests to assess campus security.Works closely with senior management and public relations regarding security issues.Coordinates efforts between schools, law enforcement agencies, courts, public and private organizations, and the general public in development of initiatives designed to promote a safe school climate.Develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement agencies for each region in which BTCSI operates schools, including coordinating opportunities for agencies to use campus facilities for trainings.Works with Growth/Facilities team to ensure projects/potential sites are compliant with current TEA guidance and the TEC/TAC.Reviews security-related incident reports from campuses and provides as-needed follow-up to senior administration regarding the outcomes of reported incidents.Assists schools in options for increasing safety and accountability for the drop-off/pick-up of students.Supports preparation of quarterly updates for the Non-Profit, SSC, and Board meetings.Supports contracted Campus Guard Program including planning scope of work, procurement of services, and continued evaluation of contractor performance.Works with each campus to ensure campus reunification plan is formulated per Standard Reunification Method and supports implementation of plan.Implements and manages Narcan program across all BTCS campuses.Supports Raptor Emergency Management Suite implementation and training across district and all campuses.Ensures 100% compliance with respect to mandated trainings and supports campus programs (e.g., Stop-the-Bleed, Psychological First-Aid, BTA, Safe Storage of Firearms).Monitors and ensures that emergency drills (All SRP drills including fire evacuation) are being conducted on campus and non-campus facilities. Ensures 100% compliance.Works with and supports Facilities/IT team on any maintenance, repair, and installation of any electronic or other safety/security systems or technology.Assists coordination and conduct mandated safety and security audits; assists in compiling the Board and TEA report.Provides Safe and Supportive Schools Program (SSSP) District Leadership and supports campus level SSSP Teams. Law enforcement certification and/or SBLE experience a plus.Requires valid driver’s license. This position will be traveling to our schools.Requires broad knowledge of school safety and security procedures.Knowledge of security hardware and software programs related to closed circuit television, controlled access, emergency management, and visitor identification.Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws as well as policies and requirements as they relate to students, staff and the school system.Financial experience, facilities management experience, and experience with Human Resources related functions preferred.
