Position is located in our Atlanta Office: 18 Capitol Square SW, Atlanta, GA 30334
Compensation will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Candidates will be considered for the position until it is filled. Application materials should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a brief writing sample from a technical report, and three references with contact information. The finalists for the position will be required to provide three letters of recommendation. Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in organizational assessment, industrial psychology, statistics, sociology, social work, anthropology, business, public administration, law or related field is required.Position Summary
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at The University of Georgia invites applications for a Public Service Faculty position in the Strategic Management and Organizational Effectiveness Unit. The position will be available April 15, 2024 and carries rank in the public service faculty career ladder of the University. Rank on hire will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.This position will lead the Strategic Management and Organizational Effectiveness Unit. As Unit Manager, the position will grow a program of work related to organizational assessment, process improvement, performance management, strategic planning and other types of management studies. This is a highly entrepreneurial position with responsibility to foster strong relationships with state officials and other government leaders.Responsibilities
Direct, manage, and participate in division and Institute activities.Manage and direct the Organizational Effectiveness and Strategy unit of the Institute.Supervise professional staff consisting of public service faculty, research staff, and graduate and undergraduate students.Conduct annual performance evaluations of the staff and public service faculty in the unit.Establish and maintain working relationships with personnel in state governments and professional associations.Meet with potential clients to determine needs and negotiate contracts.Develop projects, pursue grant funding, develop project resource plans, oversee contract development and deliverables.Gather, analyze, and present data in an accessible manner.Write applied research reports and present findings to elected officials and staff.Facilitate enterprise strategic and resource planning.Assist governments in developing their strategic plans and data strategies and assess and improve organization effectiveness.Perform other related duties as assigned.Additional Requirements
Required Skills
Knowledge of government principles, concepts and practices.Knowledge of organizational best practices.Knowledge of performance management principles.Skill in excellent oral and written communication.Ability to manage multiple projects and presentations simultaneously.The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Public Service Assistant, Public Service Associate, or Senior Public Service Associate.Posting Specific Questions
