Job Summary

Provides legal counsel to management and employees. Manages litigation, legal transactions, legal compliance and other matters. Supervises outside counsel. Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.

A Day in the Life:

Draft, review, and provide legal support to commercial teams for automotive transactions, including the review and negotiation of vendor/supplier contracts.

Draft, review, and provide legal support to commercial teams for automotive transactions, including the review and negotiation of dealer agreements and financing arrangements.

Coordinate with internal parties as needed to resolve disputes, including advice concerning dealers in workout scenarios.

Prepare correspondence and agreements with dealers in workout scenarios.

Advise on industry, legal, and regulatory developments related to commercial contracting and commercial financing.

Work closely with internal business partners to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.

Create and present training for business clients on various legal matters.

Manage outside counsel, including by defining scope of engagement and supervising day-to-day activities.

Collaborate with fellow attorneys, paralegals, support staff and clients on projects.

As necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

Manage various legal matters, disputes, litigation, and strategic projects as requested.

Provide privacy advice related to consumers and commercial transactions.

Support other NMAC and Nissan affiliates as may be requested.

Provide corporate governance support as assistant corporate secretary as may be requested.

Who We’re Looking for:

Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts, especially concerning financial services.

Experience advising on workout scenarios, including with distressed dealers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Privacy experience a plus; CIPP certification a significant plus.

Experience working in a multinational corporation with cross-border affiliates is preferred.

Highly developed business and technical acumen.

Excellent legal research and writing skills; attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership.

Be highly proactive, accountable, team-oriented, and capable of managing multiple competing priorities.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

Experience with legal matter management and billing systems.

Years of Experience:

5+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney advising on commercial transactions, commercial agreements, or with a sales finance company.

Education:

JD degree from ABA accredited law school; member in good standing of bar in state of practice.
