MetroEast Community Media has an immediate opening for a full-time Finance Manager to join our team. The Director of Finance is a hands-on and strategic thought partner with responsibility for fulfilling the following functions at MetroEast Community Media: accounting, financial reporting, financial management, budgeting, business planning, operations, HR and administration. In addition, as an Executive Leadership Team member you will help guide the organization into a new phase of digital learning and communication; while embodying and advancing the MetroEast mission of invigorating civic engagement, inspiring diverse voices, and strengthening community life. The Executive Leadership Team shares responsibility for the oversight and management of the organization.About:

Provide strategic and policy advice and recommendations to the Board of Directors.Develop and execute the organization’s business strategiesSupervise, guide and delegate staff in their dutiesAnalyze problematic situations and occurrences, and provide solutions to ensure company growth and survivalProvide financial leadership and direction to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board to ensure the stability and growth of the organizationAccounting, Financial Management and Business PlanningDay to day accounting and bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, check deposits, journal entries, reconciliations; preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, tax filing, cash flow management, and presentation of financial reports to the ELT and Board of Directors/Finance Committee at monthly Board meetings and otherwise as needed.Maintain up-to-date accounting practices and financial procedures manual; continually update and implement all necessary business policies, practices and internal controls. Ensure compliance with GAAP and state/federal laws and best practices.Prepare financial reports and resolutions for Finance Committee action; attend Finance Committee and monthly Board Meetings. Present reports, budgets and audits in accordance with organizational deadlines.Coordinate and carry out the annual audit process; liaise with external auditors and the Finance Committee. Meet audit deadlines in accordance with the MetroEast grant agreement with the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission (MHCRC)Facilitate and lead the annual capital and operating budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ELT and Finance Committee in accordance with organizational and external deadlines; present budget drafts to the MHCRC and Board of Directors; administer and review financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes via budget vs actuals reports; and keep the ELT abreast of the organization’s financial status through close coordination.Ensure compliance with grantors/grant agreements. Fulfill financial tracking and reporting obligations, provide ad hoc budgets as needed, assist with applications and attend grant meetings.Fulfill the financial aspects of the MHCRC-MetroEast grant agreement for capital and operational funds received; invoicing, quarterly reporting, annual budgeting, advance recovery memos, and a yearly capital report and audit with an outside CPA firm according to the timeline established in the grant agreement.Closely track and allocate wages for grants, capital projects and audit reporting throughout the fiscal year in coordination with the ELT and staff.Collect, organize and store all receipts and statements for company credit cards, checking, savings, and investment accounts.Manage fixed asset depreciation schedule and update in a timely manner.With the ELT, assess opportunities for fee-for-service revenue and other new business opportunities, in coordination with the Board revenue work group. Provide ad hoc financial reports as needed.Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting. Utilize cloud-based systems to manage organization’s financial books, documentation, receivables, payables, expenses, payroll, reimbursements and PO’s.Perform data analysis and draft financial memos as needed.Ensure adherence to bylaws, board approved financial policies, and applicable laws and regulations.Ensure the timely completion and filing of quarterly and annual reports including 1099s, CT-12 and 990.Payroll and Benefits AdministrationResponsible for running payroll twice per month, performing reimbursements and paying contractors via multiple payment methods/platforms.Administer employee benefits in accordance with state and federal laws, including retirement/401k, short and long term disability, Paid Leave Oregon, FSA/HSA, health and dental accounts.File and distribute W2s and 1099s.Sort and file mail at the MetroEast building, respond to requests in a timely manner, maintain financial records at the HQ in compliance with GAAP.Other ResponsibilitiesActively participate in team meetings and discussions.Participate in DEI training.Attend MetroEast classes to learn about the organization and the work of the team.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAdvanced accounting and bookkeeping skills with a strong understanding of GAAP with special emphasis on restricted funds and fixed asset accounting.Administrative and business experience.Payroll and benefits administration experience.Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time.Ability to translate financial concepts to, and to effectively collaborate with, colleagues who do not have finance backgrounds.Knowledge of accounting and reporting software (Quickbooks Online, Expensify preferred).Knowledge of government grants and nonprofit accounting.Experience with inventory tracking and systems.Analysis and problem-solving skills.Interpersonal communication skills; able to work as part of a team while also being a self-starter who works well independently.Personal qualities of integrity, sense of humor, passion, and dedication to MetroEast’s mission.Commitment to DEI values and supporting our entire community.The ability to interact with team members., customers and business partners in a professional and cooperative mannerProficient in MS Excel, Word and Google Suite applications.Please note:

a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 3+ years managing finances for an organization or nonprofit.Working Conditions/Physical DemandsWork is usually performed in an indoor office environment with long periods at a desk. Employees may work under the stress of continual public and/or interdepartmental contact and pressure to meet deadlines. Remote work is allowed, but may require working in the office when needed. This role has a flexible work schedule and may be required to work evenings and weekends. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
