This position serves as a strategic and operational leader and collaborator, focusing on the design of the built and natural environment of campus properties. Responsibilities include ensuring development and application of design standards for buildings, systems, landscape, and hardscape, as well as providing guidance and oversight of the design process for consistency in approach and business processes.Description
This position leads the effort to achieve the “aesthetic and materials vision” for Dartmouth College’s campus assets and new construction and renovation. Dartmouth facilities include over 6.5 million square feet of space in 165 buildings, serving over 5,900 students and 4,000 faculty and staff.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a similar field.Licensure as an architect in New Hampshire, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within one year.10 years of experience in planning and design in a campus environment.Experience developing design standards and managing design processes.Experience and certifications in sustainability or high-performance buildings.Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify as a Dartmouth Approved Driver.Preferred Qualifications

Development and implementation of design standards, including architectural, materials, systems, sustainability, and landscape focus (30% of time).Partnering with project teams on evaluation and selection of design business partners (20% of time).Evaluating, guiding, and enhancing design processes (20% of time).Performing specific design review and project advising (10% of time).Performing or overseeing studies and evaluations (10% of time).Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions and communications (10% of time).Performs other duties as assigned.Documents Needed to Apply
