POSITION SCOPE
The Quality and Food Safety Auditor is responsible for ensuring all sites maintain appropriate Food Safety and Food Defense Certifications. This role involves conducting internal audits and inspections, participating in third-party audits, and staying current with relevant legislation. The auditor will investigate incidents, follow up on corrective and preventative actions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of policy documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure all sites maintain appropriate Food Safety and Food Defense Certifications (e.g. HACCP, Kosher, Organic).
Review documentation and participate in third-party audits to uphold certification standards.
Stay updated with domestic and international government and industry legislation to ensure compliance across all business units.
Investigate incidents and ensure follow-up on corrective and preventative actions until resolution.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of policy documents and their implementation.
Train and educate site employees on current protocols and practices.
Maintain detailed records of audits, inspections, and incident investigations. Prepare reports for management and customers as required.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential food safety hazards. Develop risk mitigation strategies to prevent incidents.
Work closely with other departments such as production and logistics to ensure food safety and quality standards are integrated into all aspects of the business.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to travel to various locations in Canada, the USA, and internationally.
Experience using various platforms and programs: Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Microsoft Office Suite, Database software, Manufacturing software, Timekeeping software.
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related science discipline preferred.
Certification in food safety auditing (e.g., FSSC, HACCP) is preferred.
Food manufacturing and grain handling experience a plus.
Knowledge of malt or beer operations is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Travel on foot is required throughout the site. In operation buildings, employees are required to access multiple levels using stairs, elevators, and ladders.
Work will be a combination of indoor and outdoor environments. Work must be performed in all weather conditions, dusty, wet, and other conditions.
Hybrid work policy applicable.
COMPENSATION
Salary is $52,534.85 - $78,802.70 per year.
Newly hired incumbents are placed on the salary scale based on their education, training/skill, and experience, as applicable. Compensation and benefits package includes:
