POSITION SCOPE The Senior Accounting Manager for North America plays a crucial role in overseeing financial management and accounting practices of North America for our dynamic malt business units. This pivotal role encompasses managing daily financial transactions, delivering incisive financial analysis of operational outcomes, assessing the fiscal implications of new business opportunities, and innovating our processes for heightened cost-effectiveness and added value. We seek a leader who excels in communication across all organizational levels, thrives in a collaborative, team-focused environment, and brings seasoned expertise from a manufacturing background, especially in managing swift monthly close cycles. You will collaborate with the Controller to act as a strategic business partner to the North American Senior Executive Team, delivering nuanced accounting insights and analysis. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to driving efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and operations. As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will be at the forefront of our financial operations, contributing significantly to the division's success and efficiency. Your role will be integral to shaping our financial strategy and practices in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the management of legal financial statements across all legal entities for the Americas operating region. Manage, control, and implement all relevant accounting systems used for or to support accounting and financial reporting processes. Closely partner with the VP/Controller to oversee various closing activities and further develop & improve our internal closing procedures. Oversee and manage the analysis of our balance sheet and that such accounts are reconciled timely to underlying supporting documentation. Perform technical accounting research as needed and prepare/review technical memorandums that document issues and conclusions in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner. Oversee ASC 842 accounting and review documentation and support. Help drive the identification of inefficiencies and opportunities for process improvements, optimize the ERP and other accounting systems and tools, and help lead the implementation of best practices for all the accounting processes to scale the team. Participate in driving standardization and harmonization across Americas accounting functions in accordance with local and global streamlining efforts. Partner with other departments, including FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Credit, Legal, and Operations to support business initiatives and ensure alignment with financial reporting goals. Coordinate and oversee internal and external audit activities and other statutory/compliance reporting. Monitor and reconcile the local financial statements with the parent company financial statements, noting any reporting differences. Provide technical direction of accounting and financial reporting in accordance with Company policies, local tax, IFRS, and French GAAP policies. Collaborate closely with support functions in the French holding company and other sister EMEA and APAC entities, ensuring alignment and collaboration across the global organization. Lead and develop finance and accounting staff, fostering leadership skills.
SKILLS & ABILITIES Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA required. 10-15 years experience, previous experience in the financial reporting/general ledger as a senior member of the accounting team. Experience managing and reporting on cost accounting and inventory valuations. Expertise/experience dealing with complexity: multi-activity (Distribution and Manufacturing) multi entities, multi-currencies, multi-cultural. Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Experience with French GAAP is a plus. Deep understanding of internal controls, risk management, foreign currency, and commodity risk management. Extensive experience with ERP systems and a thorough understanding of cost accounting principles. Demonstrated leadership skills with a capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally. Adaptability and flexibility in a changing business environment. Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and distribution sectors with multiple locations, multi-currency environments, accounts, and reporting requirements. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (D365) software systems strongly preferred. Proven planning and time management skills and ability to prioritize both strategic and day-to-day requirements. Self-motivated with a high level of initiative. Demonstrated ability to act in a consulting capacity.
WORKING CONDITIONS Standard office hours, with flexibility to accommodate workload during month-end close. Comfort in an open office and collaborative workspace.
COMPENSATION Salary is $89,530.31 - $134,295.47 per year. Newly hired incumbents are placed on the salary scale based on their education, training/skill, and experience, as applicable. Compensation and benefits package as follows: Paid time off up to 23 days a year. 10 paid holidays 2 Medical plan options inclusive of RX coverage Dental plan Vision plan Flex spending accounts (FSA) Company paid basic life insurance.
