POSITION SCOPE We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our North America Environmental, Health and Safety team. The successful candidate will possess 2–5 years of experience in environmental auditing, compliance, GHG, and sustainability. The Environmental Specialist will lead and oversee the environmental management practices of Soufflet Malt NA projects. This is an exciting position where you will not only ensure compliance with legal and contractual environmental requirements for the projects but also contribute to Soufflet Malt’s enduring dedication to corporate, social, and environmental responsibility across North America. RESPONSIBILITIES Initiate and support/lead cross-functional implementation of short- and long-term projects to reduce SM’s carbon footprint. Lead sustainability initiatives. Monitor success and opportunities of sustainability programming, ensuring SM meets the set targets. Make adjustments as necessary. Work with accounting to track energy and resource (water, fuel, refrigerants, etc.) usage and spending. Establish goals and targets for reducing carbon footprint, waste, water usage, and energy consumption. Assist with leading water, groundwater, and stormwater compliance efforts for SM. Assist with leading ground, soil, and remediation compliance for SM. Implement projects that reduce overall emissions by collaborating with and assisting other departments. Be the point person for sustainability questions, comments, or concerns. Apply for grants from the government and organizations to fund sustainability projects. Attend meetings with Facility Leads to discuss ongoing efforts and share ideas and challenges. Conduct environmental audits at facilities to ensure compliance. Acquire proposals, quotes, and additional resources for sustainability-related projects. Collaborate with community, state, regional partners, and customers. Prepare and review periodic reporting, including Annual Criteria & Toxics Emissions Reporting, Greenhouse Gas, Stormwater Discharge, TSCA, Tier II, State, and Federal Waste, Discharge Monitoring, SPCC, RMP, and other applicable environmental compliance reporting. Advanced knowledge of state, provincial, and federal environmental laws. SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum: BS in Environmental Science or engineering field required. 2-5 years of Sustainability, GHG, and Environmental experience required. WORKING CONDITIONS Typical standard office environment most of the time, may visit a production facility, warehouse, or farm on occasion. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety protocols. COMPENSATION Salary: $31.43 - $47.15 per hour Newly hired incumbents are placed on the salary scale based on their education, training/skill, and experience, as applicable.
