King County Metro Transit is looking for an outstanding people leader to fulfill the role of
Streetcar Section Manager.
The Section Manager is the main Leader for Streetcar Section employees in providing excellent public transit service for both the South Lake Union Streetcar Line, connecting from Fairview through the South Lake Union neighborhood to Westlake, and the First Hill Streetcar Line serving Pioneer Square, the Chinatown/International District, First Hill and Capitol Hill. The Seattle Streetcar provides important connections within the neighborhoods served and to Metro’s fixed route bus service and Sound Transit Link service.This leadership role will be entrusted to model and promote teamwork and a continuous-improvement mindset, advance a safety-based culture, inspire high standards of service excellence, coach managers and supervisors toward achievement of shared goals and values, and partner across Metro and with the City of Seattle to deliver an exceptional streetcar experience.We are looking for candidates who meet one (1) of the following qualification options:Option 1:
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible management experience, preferably within transit or a similar service delivery field (ex. transportation, public works, construction, utilities, transit human resources operations) which includes experience building and leading teams to successful results.Option 2:
Master’s degree in public administration, business administration or other applicable field; and two (2) years of increasingly responsible management experience preferably within transit or a similar service delivery field (ex. transportation, public works, construction, utilities, human resources operations) which includes experience building and leading teams to successful results.Option 3:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or other applicable field; and three (3) years of increasingly responsible management experience, preferably within transit or a similar service delivery field (ex. transportation, public works, construction, utilities, transit human resources operations) which includes experience building and leading teams to successful results.AndExperience working with labor unions, including the ability to develop and nurture effective, productive relationships with union leadership, respecting established processes and fostering an environment of mutual respect.
