Many promising drug candidates for neurological or neurodegenerative diseases fail to advance due to dose-limiting, off-tissue peripheral toxicities, which impede both safety and efficacy.The Scientist/Sr. Scientist in the Discovery and Biomarkers team will play a pivotal role in both our biomarker and discovery efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and help shape the future of medicine.Job Requirements:
Develop, optimize, and execute assays to test compounds for potency and target engagement in in vitro screening assays.Develop, optimize, and execute assays to test for potency and target engagement in tissues of animals dosed with our compounds.Train and help manage Research Associates and others to work in the Biomarker and Discovery programs.Work closely with the in vivo and chemistry teams in animal experiments and screening efforts.Make key decisions such as which biomarkers to pursue, what technologies to use, which tissues/biofluids to test, etc.Stay up-to-date with the latest literature in the field, review literature, plan experiments, and write up comprehensive reports for experiments performed in the electronic lab notebook.Stay up-to-date with new developments in the biomarker and drug screening fields, and implement new technologies.Manage several projects simultaneously.Design and execute biomarker strategies to support clinical programs.Create clear and succinct presentations summarizing the data generated.Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (for Scientist), with 2-5 years of full time work experience (for Sr. Scientist) in cell-based screening and biomarker development in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.Experience in optimizing a variety of cell-based and cell-free screening assays.Experience in generating knock-out and knock-in cell lines using CRISPR.Experience in cloning / custom plasmid generation.Experience with high-sensitivity biomarker assays such as MSD, alphaLISA, SMCxPRO, and Quanterix.Experience with FACS, immunofluorescence imaging, Western blotting, and plate-based assays.Experience in developing and validating biomarker assays in terms of parallelism, dilution linearity, spike recovery, specificity, precision, etc.Experience with biomarker and drug screening data analysis plans, including data interpretation and reporting.Experience in project management and cross-functional team leadership.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.Salary & Benefits
