82050BRJob Summary:The duration of this temporary role is approximately 3 months. This individual provides administrative and project support at the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) Parnassus site. This position independently prioritizes issues in a fast-paced environment, manages the Parnassus Chief and Medical Director's complex and demanding schedules, provides onsite support, and plans and implements events for the Parnassus site.The person in this position performs and/or oversees special projects or assignments that are sensitive and/or complex in nature, requiring a high level of independence and initiative in execution and implementation. The individual handles details and oversees work of a highly confidential and critical nature to support the Chief and leadership team on matters of significance. In addition, this position provides support to the other Parnassus faculty in areas such as scheduling support, meeting support, etc.This position requires the incumbent to have a high degree of organization, attention to detail, efficient use of time management, ability to prioritize work, discretion and initiative. Assignments are often given on a project basis and the incumbent is expected to manage the entire problem-solving process: gather and sort information, identify potential solutions, and present the finished product in the form of a written recommendation or completed project. The individual must have the ability to interact with many diverse personalities and demonstrate good judgment.Department Description:UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.Required Qualifications:Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.Preferred Qualifications:N/AAbout UCSF:The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
