The Director of Project Management and Strategy Execution will report to the Outdoor & Recreation Segment CEO. This role will provide strategic thought partnership to the segment CEO and leadership team including: CMI, brand management, marketing, category strategy and planning, R&D, finance, and operations to bring a cross functional approach to solving business challenges and unlock the full potential of the segment. This role will function as a Subject Matter Expert on world-class project and process management, responsible for deploying best practice tools, processes, and training to segment leaders. Last, this role should serve as a Continuous Improvement Champion, able to lead, support, and train the organization on eliminating process waste and improving speed to market.
Additionally, the Director will partner with the O&R CEO and Segment Leadership team to drive the successful execution of a portfolio of BU strategic initiatives to drive and accelerate profitable growth. On such initiatives, this role will be responsible for ensuring the development of the overall strategic project roadmap and supporting the attainment of key milestones, identifying necessary resources, and overcoming obstacles to ensure project deliverables are realized successfully. The Director will also identify and manage critical dependencies between strategic projects, adapting the roadmaps and reallocating segment resources as needed.
Responsibilities:
Driving the successful execution of key initiatives within the O&R segment strategy deployment plan and innovation pipeline, from concept to commercialization
Overseeing the development of project charters and monitoring milestone achievement, course correcting as appropriate and reporting on key metrics to drive profitable O&R growth
Manage the segment strategy development and deployment process, leveraging standard Newell methodologies. Assisting and communicating with executives in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation
Partnering with functional leaders to document key business processes to uncover waste, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leading execution of changes as needed to improve overall organizational effectiveness. Key process areas shall include, but are not limited to, trade spend management, new product launch, productivity identification and implementation and sales planning activities.
Functioning as a segment representative in support of Newell enterprise initiatives.
Identifying other areas of opportunity (e.g., process flow, business management handoff) to increase how the team efficiently and effectively manages the business
Ownership of segment CEO presentations (e.g. Global Leadership Summit, Sales Meeting, etc.)
Ownership of segment staff meeting agenda and follow up on delivering agreed actions
Qualifications
Four-year college degree, MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience in Brand Management, program management, continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to sort through complex data and derive meaningful insight to identify key issues and formulate simple to understand solutions.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business and influence key stakeholders to drive transformation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across all levels and functions within a matrixed organization e.g., O&R Segment, Newell Enterprise functions.
Experienced program leader in executing a portfolio of complex, multi-functional initiatives successfully.
Understands world-class Brand Management and Marketing principles, including the requirements and outputs expected in such an organization.
Excellent communication skills, able to effectively translate complex initiatives into simple concepts.
Possess an agile mindset with a problem-solving orientation, with the ability to lead others to world-class outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to use continuous improvement tools to identify and drive efficiencies and business goals.
Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives.
A business-minded strategic planner with experience in data analysis and budget management
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions.
Consulting experience with a focus on operations management
