Job Description - DIRECTOR-UAB COORDINATOR-AMSTI (T221089)The site Director of AMSTI-UAB is a 12-month employee of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with compensation defined by the Salary Matrix for AMSTI Directors. National Board Certified directors will be entitled to the additional amount paid by the state for such certification as long as the certification remains in effect. The Center for Community OutReach Development of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (CORD) is seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to assume the position of Director of the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative at UAB (AMSTI-UAB), which includes the Alabama Science in Motion (ASIM) program at UAB.Duties & Responsibilities

Communicate and collaborate with AMSTI-ALSDE to implement all AMSTI projects, recognizing that the ALSDE is the final authority regarding policies and operations of AMSTI sites.Oversee and coordinate the effective operation of the AMSTI site, which includes supervising staff and the materials/refurbishment center, budgeting for site activities, and monitoring the AMSTI Inventory Management System (AIMS).Plan, set up, and supervise (and coordinate with AMSTI-ASIM) training according to instructional and resource components identified by AMSTI-ALSDE.Oversee and/or coordinate with AMSTI-ASIM, Regional Inservice Centers, IHEs, science centers/museums, AMSTI Affiliates, and other related entities in implementing AMSTI.Oversee the recruitment and selection of schools and teachers recommended to receive AMSTI PLOs.Lead site efforts to expand and retain AMSTI status for schools and teachers.Coordinate ongoing mentoring and content-deepening opportunities for current and potential specialists and facilitators/trainers.Arrange and supervise publicity and media releases showcasing regional AMSTI and AMSTI-ASIM events, including social media, according to PR requirements.Coordinate PLUs and other professional learning in AMSTI and AMSTI-ASIM schools, including planning, facilitating, conducting, and/or overseeing.Maintain records of the following in the appropriate system (Monday.com, Banner, Concur, etc.):Schools, administrators, and teachers participating in various project components.Daily itineraries of staff, including AMSTI-ASIM.Evaluations of specialists to foster professional growth.Evaluations of Foundational Training and other staff development activities to assess the effectiveness of the Initiative.Activities with businesses and higher education.Financial operations and documentation as required by the ALSDE and the institution associated with the site.Other documentation required by the ALSDE, local institution, and/or the funding source.Provide data-driven guidance and support to LEAs and schools, including AMSTI-ASIM.Complete and submit the required paperwork in a timely manner.Coordinate with other AMSTI sites and assist, as needed.Pursue grants and other forms of funding to support the mission of AMSTI.Participate in professional learning activities and staff meetings as required by the ALSDE.Foster positive public relations with local school systems, businesses, communities, and higher education.Participate in AMSTI and/or AMSTI-ASIM workgroups.Perform other duties assigned by AMSTI-ALSDE.Specific to UAB, the AMSTI Director will work collaboratively with the Center for Community OutReach Development (CORD) in the development of programs that will benefit the students of the AMSTI-UAB schools.Will work with the Administrator of CORD, the PI of AMSTI-UAB and the financial officers in the College of Arts and Sciences.Will ensure that the individuals in the AMSTI-ASIM operation will follow UAB organizational protocol in addressing any requests to the administration of UAB.Will oversee the operation and ensure coordination between AMSTI-UAB and ASIM-UAB.Will ensure that all employees of AMSTI-ASIM-UAB follow the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct.Will work under the supervision of the PI of AMSTI-UAB.Annual Salary Range:

$85,600-$139,100Qualifications

Master's degree in Business, Education or a related field and seven (7) years of experience as a K-12 Teacher required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified as a STEM Educator by the Alabama State Department of Education required.Note: Review of candidates will take place on October 23, 2024.Primary Location
