- Gaithersburg, MDAre you a highly motivated Senior Scientist with deep scientific and technical expertise in T cell biology? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. As a critical link between Bioscience and Clinical sciences teams, you will support and advance T-cell engagers in the early clinical stage. This position will provide the opportunity to dissect and explore novel preclinical biology, to provide the foundational bioscience perspective at cross-functional teams in early and late stages of drug development and to address scientific questions relevant to the clinical positioning of novel therapeutics.Accountabilities:As a Senior Scientist, you will apply your technical and scientific experience to advance innovative therapeutics into and through the clinic. This role will require laboratory wet work with both in vitro and in vivo components to drive innovative science and will also require leadership capabilities to effectively communicate bioscience strategy within cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include:Independently developing, executing and delivering key in vitro & in vivo data sets critical for the advancement of clinically staged T-cell engager programs.Providing scientific leadership and strategic guidance to cross-functional, global teams supporting early staged clinical candidates.Contributing to regulatory documents associated with clinical progression of affiliated programs.Helping build AstraZeneca’s external presence in key areas of research.Essential Skills/Experience:Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or other related scientific field. Industry experience is preferred but not required.Strong background and experience in immunology and/or immuno-oncology. Experience in T cell activation, co-stimulation and overall T cell biology is highly desirable, as is knowledge of hematologic cancer settings.A high level of independence and the ability to develop hypotheses and execute analysis plans for experimental data.Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills together with evidence of having used these to support problem solving and delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and written/oral communications for wide audiences.Proven record of success in your research and experience preparing manuscripts, posters and oral presentations.Desirable Skills/Experience:Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment.At AstraZeneca's Oncology R&D department, we are a science-based, leading and decisive Oncology enterprise united in our vision to eliminate cancer as a cause of death.
