Job Summary:

University Advancement is a rewarding place to work for those motivated to make a lasting impact on the campus, students, and programs at the University of Utah. The newly created Student Success Advancement team is seeking an innovative and experienced fundraising professional to help develop and grow a major gift fundraising program to secure funding for campus-wide scholarships and student success initiatives. The desired candidate will have experience in securing major gifts, portfolio management, and relationship building, as well as the maturity, wisdom, and collaborative skills necessary to gain the trust and confidence of university leadership across various departments. This position will fundraise for all scholarships and programs that the Student Success Advancement team supports within the following academic units: Financial Aid & Scholarships, Student Affairs, Undergraduate Studies, Graduate Studies, Bennion Center, and Honors College.

Responsibilities:

Research and identify major gift prospects, and make direct solicitations to alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations on behalf of the University through face-to-face interactions. Ensure fundraising efforts are donor-centric.

Strive to meet University-wide advancement metrics including connecting with 12-15 contacts per month, 30 qualifying visits, soliciting 20 major gifts and closing 8-12 major gifts or more through the year to secure annual fundraising goals.

Prepare major gift prospect strategies for comprehensive fundraising campaigns by developing specific plans for individual donors.

Prepare and write individual proposals to solicit contributions.

Adhere to the University’s prospect management standards, track donor relationships and file contact reports.

Modeling the One U mission, collaborate closely with campus partners, and build a culture of trust with the various departments, centers, and organizations Student Success Advancement team supports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (One year of education is equivalent to two years of experience).

Four years of related experience.

Preferences:

Four years or more of frontline fundraising experience.

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
