Sr. Technical Program Manager, Drive Unit

As a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) for the Tesla Drive Units, you will be working on frontier of automotive electric drivetrains that are at the very heart of the Tesla EV technology. In this unique role, you will be able to combine your engineering expertise and program management experience to develop world-class products. As a part of a dynamic team in fast-moving environment, you will collaborate with Tesla's exceptional engineering teams to take new products from initial designs through prototype development to full production. Your core responsibility will be leading successful execution of new product launches and current product improvement projects.
In addition to outstanding organization skills, an ideal candidate for this role must also have strong technical skills to work with multiple engineering teams and lead root cause investigations, technical reviews, testing and validation planning. He/she is expected to have familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, and testing requirements for the EV products and a good understanding of relevant technical risks. The TPM will maintain a broader understanding of multiple Drive Unit programs to direct teams on priorities and competing activities. They will lead robust execution of the Tesla Engineering Development Processes and help the extended engineering team understand and execute the critical program milestones.
Responsibilities
Maintain important program information and ensure that all team-members are aware of upcoming program deliverables, critical dates and have access to vital information Manage build plans across multiple programs and communicate and resolve shortfalls, and coordinate with cross-functional teams on multiple continents to prioritize and manage high-impact changes and drive improvements to all relevant project schedules Track and maintain key component and program metrics including performance, cost, reliability, mass, and schedule Lead critical, high-priority action plans for design and quality risks Lead development of testing and validation timelines, DFMEAs, and DVP&Rs Manage prototype sourcing and logistic for early-stage program needs Facilitate logistic and tracking for priority projects including shipment of trial parts and test units amongst internal, supplier, and external test sites Document lessons learned and extend new improvements and best practices across projects and into new launches Collaborate with other vehicle system teams, part and system owners on product updates and ensure all changes are well-documented and efficiently implemented with Operations groups. Background in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Aerospace Engineering or Mechatronics, or equivalent experience Minimum 4 years' experience in project management for complex electro-mechanical products Experience in automotive industry is desired; experience with drive systems and drive inverters is preferred Proactive, highly organized, and detail oriented, with strong technical communication ability - able to drive improvements across a global interdisciplinary team Experience analyzing product metrics, business cases, and schedules for large-scale implementation Evidence of exceptional ability Compensation and Benefits Benefits

$100,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
