The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong and effective management over the monthly closing, quarterly reviews, year-end audit requests, monthly P&L reviews, and ad hoc research projects as they arise.The Senior Accountant will manage month-end close responsibilities of the Company, including but not limited to recording plant, property, and equipment and software fixed assets, depreciation expense, and club operating and overhead expenses. The position will manage all new and existing capital leases, Asset Retirement Obligation and Capitalization of interest during construction period.The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company and cross-functional departments such as Facilities, Procurement, Capital Development, FP&A, and Accounts Payable. Qualified candidates will have a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.This individual will approach projects with a flexible, innovative, detail-oriented approach, and a strong emphasis on system-based (rather than people-based) solutions.This position will manage one staff accountant and is expected to assist with the development of the staff accountant. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting at the Company’s corporate headquarters.RESPONSIBILITIESManage the month-end close process including the recording of capital project, tracking existing fixed assets, review AP coding for accuracy, accruals for various club and overhead expenses and related balance sheet account reconciliation.Maintain our fixed asset subsidiary ledger, record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions, reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.Calculate asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets to which ARO’s are applicable.Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizationsPerform balance sheet account reconciliations and provide analytical commentary on fluctuationsPrepare various schedules, memos, and supporting documentation for the external auditAssist with preparation of various schedules and supporting documentation for the external auditResearch and implement strategic based processes to improve accounting and month-end close responsibilitiesSupport the transactions and fluctuations of the P&L accounts with robust variance analysisAble to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Facilities, Capital Development, Payroll, Club General Manager, Procurement and Financial Reporting.Ad hoc projects to continually improve business processes within finance team and broader company.QualificationsBachelors in Accounting, MBA or Masters preferredMinimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting, preferably experience in public accountingCPA license or candidate actively pursuing CPA preferredKnowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and experience with internal controlsKnowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plusKnowledge of Visual Lease or lease management system is a plusKnowledge of OneStream is a plusSelf-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.Ability to work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment.Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitudeExhibit willingness and ability to learn, adapt and improve the environment.Strong analytical and communication skillsProficient PC skills in the areas of integrated business system environments, and other basic office software, such as, spreadsheet, database, and word-processingCareer-minded and goal-oriented person who can see challenges as an opportunity for future advancementsPay Transparency: Min 85K - Max $95KAdditional InformationAS A MEMBER OF THE EQUINOX TEAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:We offer competitive salary, benefits and industry leading commission opportunities for club employeesComplimentary Club membership30- 50% discounts on all Equinox products and services including Personal Training, Private Pilates, Spa and Café’ services and Shop itemsThis job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
