Founded in 2009 by the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino, Knowledge and Education for Your Success (KEYS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, private-public partnership, dedicated to enhancing access to supportive services for low-income residents in San Bernardino County. KEYS provides an array of services including case management to assist families and individuals in accessing existing resources and services within the County.
In summary, the
ACCOUNTANT
will plan, organize and assist with all phases of budgetary and accounting functions in the KEYS Finance Department. Performs professional accounting work in an accounting system requiring the use of technical accounting principles and procedures in general accounting, and accounts receivables/payables.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepare and maintain accounting files for accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant requirements, and maintain related account journals.Prepares and maintains monthly financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, budget variance reports and cash flow statements.Audits and reviews financial documents for accuracy and completeness; prepares monthly journal entries, monthly misc. deposit, and coding of documents.Reconciles grant-specific expenditures, including Direct Financial Assistance transactions; makes and justifies necessary adjustments with proper supporting back-up. Analyzes situations accurately and recommends an effective course of action.Supports month-end and year end close; prepares year-end audit schedules, adjusting journal entries, gathers necessary account information and requests for annual audits and preparation of federal tax returns.
Experience/Training/Requirements
Bachelors' degree preferred with major coursework in accounting, business administration, or related field. At least three (3) years' experience in a similar position performing higher level accounting duties, analysis and records-management. Non-profit experience working with grant funds is highly preferred. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Must have knowledge of GAAP.
Position does require auto insurance levels for bodily injury at $100,000/$300,000. Auto Stipend will be provided at $80/mo to offset costs.
