Overview:
Nelson Mullins is seeking a litigation paralegal to assist attorneys in our Baltimore office. Experience with medical malpractice is strongly preferred.A Day in the Life:The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegals role in the litigation life cycle. This individual will work directly with attorneys on all medical aspects of the case. They will be responsible for requesting and summarizing medical records and preparing medical chronologies for attorney review. In addition to their medical involvement, this individual will maintain and monitor court deadlines, taking ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents in both federal and state court systems under the supervision of an attorney; perform online research; and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions.We Know You:The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong organizational skills along with well-developed critical thinking skills. They are detail oriented, producing neat and accurate work product, all while maintaining the ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities. This individual resolves issues proactively and knows how to be a true team player. 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education. Ability to conduct research as needed using various research tools.
