Our foodservice business supplies many of the top restaurant chains in the United States.Overview:The Purchasing Manager is responsible for identifying, supporting, and executing strategic sourcing activities for Contract Manufacturing (CoMan) and Contract Packaging (CoPack) spend at T. Marzetti. The categories can be complex and impactful from both a Supply Chain and overall company perspective. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will work with cross-functional partners in the ideation, development and launch of new products into Retail stores. The individual in this position should have a procurement background, with some sourcing experience or an ability to learn quickly. The individual should be detail oriented and have a drive to support the team to reach cost savings targets and ensure supply on categories impacting T. Marzetti.Responsibilities:Support the Finding, Vetting and Qualifying of new Contract Manufacturers (CoMans) and Contract Packers (CoPackers)Working on Stage Gate initiatives to insure CoMan/CoPack is prepared to launch new initiativesAnalyzing the Cost Models (Bill of Materials) to insure accurate and best pricing,includes Qtr price updates verify supplier invoicesSupport setting up new CoMans/CoPackers costing, suppliers and manufacturingWorking with Demand and Supply teams to coordinate the supply and inventories with the available capacityLooking a future pinch points when demand outpaces supply manage on a monthly basis when future gap is identifiedManaging the attainment, throughput rates, CoMan/CoPack schedules and capacities to ensure production/supply is available for transportation and receipt into DCsManaging the CoMan/CoPack operations to avoid customer shortages working cross functionally with Supply and Transportation TeamsLead the sourcing and negotiations at CoMans/CoPackers, as well as day to day supplier and SKU managementResponsible for CoMan/CoPacker relationship management, includes detailed understanding of CoMan capabilities, contracts and capacity to help drive compliance and efficienciesLead the KPI monthly meetings with CoMan/CoPacker, working cross functionally with QA team on quality metricsSupport the CoMan/CoPacker innovation projects with sourcing, vetting and qualifying CoMan/CoPacker, includes site visits to fully understand operational and supply chain capabilitiesKey contributor for CoMan/CoPacker strategies including analysis, negotiations and long-term visionCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead contract negotiations with CoMan and Co-Packers; develop negotiation methods and acceptable terms and conditions through contract completion.Support the Sr. Director of CoMan with cost savings opportunities, strategies, cash flow improvement, negotiations, vendor change management and alternate supplier initiativesThis is both a strategic and a tactical position that requires forward vision and insight to be combined with data gathering and detailed step by step executionQualifications:
Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience requiredPreferred 4+ years of purchasing experienceSAP experience preferredStrong written, verbal, and listening skillsAbility to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions and changeHigh results-orientation*Travel is ~30% of the roleWorking Conditions/Environment:Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility.
