Scope of Job
The UTRGV SOM seeks a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon to expand our specialty practice and be Core Faculty in a developing Orthopedic Residency. Candidates with Orthopedic fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction/ Joint Replacement, and Hand Surgery.
As a Core Faculty member, selected candidate will participate in direct patient care, scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, prepare and provide didactics, participate in the evaluation of the residents & the program, and prepare for and participate in ACGME and other accreditation and non-accreditation site visits. As faculty, they will also administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones. Academic rank and title will be awarded commensurate with academic qualifications and certification.
Minimum Qualifications
MD degree with Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery (American Board of Orthopedic Surgery) and/or specialty. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical license
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a GME Accredited Residency or Fellowship Program. Candidates with Orthopedic fellowship training in Spine, Adult Reconstruction/ Joint Replacement, and Hand Surgery.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
