UTRGV School of Medicine Department of Surgery is recruiting an Academic General Surgeon who is fellowship trained in Vascular surgery and/or Breast surgery. The Successful candidate will have demonstrated strong clinical capabilities in the field of general surgery. Responsibilities include clinical care for surgery patients, teaching of medical students and residents.
Minimum Qualifications
MD degree with Board Certification or board eligibility in General Surgery and completion of an ACGME residency program. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Surgery ISU as the UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Fellowship trained in Vascular and/or Breast Surgery
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a proven record of clinical excellence, experience in an educational environment, outstanding communication skills, and demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students. In addition, the preferred candidate will be fellowship trained in vascular surgery and/or Breast surgery.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
