The Department of Management (DOM) is seeking a detail-oriented

Data Analyst 1

to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in collecting, assessing, and preparing data for analysis. If you have a passion for transforming data into actionable insights and enjoy working in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities :

Data Collection & Preparation

Collect structured data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external applications.Assess data quality and reliability through exploration and cleaning, identifying and resolving errors and inconsistencies.Document methods used for data cleaning to ensure transparency and reproducibility.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Analyze collected data to extract meaningful insights using statistical techniques.Develop interactive and static reports and visualizations to effectively communicate findings.Streamline data collection methods to enhance automation and identify areas for improvement.

Support Data Environment

Assist in the administration of the enterprise data analytic environment, including Iowa Data Hub and related resources.

Background Check Requirements :

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management.

2 ) All of the following (a and b):a. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.b. Possession of a professional certificate in data science, business analytics, or data analytics.

3)All of the following (a and b):a. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; andb. A total of one year of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management equals one year of full-time experience.
