Department Overview
UC Davis Health has completed a comprehensive business planning process that analyzed the potential of three, dependent 'pillars' that will position us to significantly advance clinical and research in multiple areas of care/scholarship. The planning process spans the academic and clinical mission areas. One pillar - manufacturing (Good Manufacturing Program) - is operated by the Stem Cell Program with extensive funding from CIRM. The business plan and market analysis suggest that if we collaborate to optimize the current GMP operation and thoughtfully pursue industry work, this pillar can provide service to our investigators and also generate revenue necessary to fund the research pillar. The GMP is a unique feature of our CGT portfolio and a core component of our overall initiative.
The Cell and Gene Therapy Initiative represents a high degree of complexity across the entire organization, as this program spans inpatient and outpatient clinical services (clinical trial and standard-of-care), manufacturing and basic/translational/clinical research. This position will be hired into the School of Medicine (which provides oversight to 2 of the pillars - research and GMP - but works across the entire UC Davis Health organization.
