Purpose of this Position:
The IT Systems Administrator involves the administration, governance, and support of enterprise systems and cloud systems utilized at McLeod Software.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.Install and upgrade computer components and software and manage virtual servers.Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing issues, and assessing their impact.Configure and maintain resource monitors for responsible infrastructure.Provide timely responses to tickets assigned and resource monitor alerts.Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure.Perform regular backup operations and implement processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.Attention to detail and a customer-centric attitude.Working knowledge of virtualization and VMWare.Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux server.Knowledge of Active Directory.Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management.Knowledge of server networking and hardware.Knowledge of storage (SAN/NAS) is a plus.Knowledge of PowerShell or shell scripting is a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.Bachelor’s degree in related discipline strongly preferred, but consideration may be given to an exceptional candidate with 5 years of relevant experience.At least 5 years relevant work experience designing, implementing, administrating, or managing systems infrastructure at an enterprise scale.Proven server administration experience with VMware, Windows, and Linux Operating Systems.Language Ability:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret trade publications, technical documentation, reports, and other documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, peers, or business community members. Ability to write communications and documentation grammatically correct for routine business correspondence.Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions with abstract and concrete variables.Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should know word processing and spreadsheet software and be able to troubleshoot, recreate, and resourcefully solve complex technical problems. Knowledge of networking, Windows, and Mac systems. Knowledge of virtualization and VMWare. Working knowledge of Active Directory. Knowledge of server networking, hardware, and storage (SAN/NAS).
