Description of Work
The Mission of the Department of Public Instruction:The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
is seeking applicants for a n Internal Auditor (Working Title: Internal Auditor I) for our Office of Internal Audit.
The Office of Internal Audit is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI). It assists DPI in accomplishing objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organization's risk management, control, and governance processes.
The primary purpose of the Internal Auditor position is to conduct internal audits within the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The position will conduct internal audits in the areas of:Effectiveness and efficiency of operationsAccuracy and reliability of the financial and operational informationCompliance with laws and regulationsFraud, waste, and abuseOther areas as prescribed
The Internal Auditor performs professional internal auditing work assignments under close supervision. This position will participate on an audit team conducting reviews of an agency's internal operations and controls. Work includes research to formulate the objectives, scope, plans and programs for conducting independent, objective engagements. This position will use prescribed methods and techniques that apply to specific assignments and will operate within the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or in business administration or other field from an appropriately accredited institution with twelve (12) semester hours in accounting and one (1) year of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting/financial statements and reports; or Associate's degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience as specified above; or equivalent combination or education and experience
