Overview:
The Senior Director of Logistics manages the entire logistics network, focusing on last-mile delivery, routing optimization, inbound logistics, compliance, cost control, and operational excellence. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Routing & Network OptimizationLead the routing teams across four locations in Baldor's logistics network.Plan and execute network growth strategies, including the identification and implementation of Cross Dock locations.Continuously evaluate and refine network design to minimize costs, improve delivery times, and enhance scalability.Develop and implement strategies for optimized routing across Baldor's first, middle, and last mile operations, focusing on cost control, service, quality, and safety.Integrate advanced technology solutions to enhance network visibility and operational efficiency.Logistics Operations PlanningBuild and develop a team to oversee strategic and tactical planning for network transportation operations, creating long-term and short-term labor, resource, and asset plans for efficient execution and cost control.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute network transportation plans that align with business demand, capacity constraints, and cost objectives.Develop long-term network transportation strategies that support future growth, scalability, and emerging trends in the logistics industry.Lead the integration of advanced technologies, such as AI, predictive analytics, and transportation management systems (TMS), to enhance planning and execution.Align transportation planning efforts with procurement, sales, and operations teams to ensure the logistics network supports overall business goals.
Last Mile Delivery Analytics and OptimizationLead the Logistics Business Intelligence team and collaborate closely with Baldor Technology teams.Provide insights and analysis to broader logistics operations teams.Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all logistics operations, focusing on service quality, delivery speed, and cost efficiency.Implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance overall logistics performance, reduce lead times, and improve on-time delivery rates.Ensure that logistics operations align with customer service objectives, driving improvements in customer satisfaction and service responsiveness.
Inbound Logistics Network Cost ControlsOversee and develop Baldor's Inbound Logistics team, managing an efficient inbound network between suppliers and Baldor locations.Implement cost-control measures in inbound logistics, including carrier negotiations, load consolidation, and optimized shipping schedules.Develop strategic inbound freight management processes to minimize costs associated with delays, demurrage, or detention fees.Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to optimize lead times and inbound shipping modes, ensuring cost-effective and timely inventory flow.Monitor inbound logistics performance and continuously benchmark costs against industry standards, seeking opportunities for cost reduction.
Cost Control and Budget DevelopmentLead the development and management of the logistics budget, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.Implement cost-saving initiatives, including operational improvements, technology adoption, and supplier negotiations.Monitor key financial KPIs, such as cost per mile, cost per delivery, and inbound logistics expenses, to ensure alignment with budget targets.Drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency while maintaining high service standards.
