Position Summary The Senior Financial Analyst will support the company's Business Development ("BD") and Strategic Planning efforts. This position will support the Business Development team on the analysis and pro forma impacts of upstream deals including, but not limited to, asset acquisitions, corporate mergers, and divestitures. Additionally, this position will focus on setting the strategic direction of our upstream and supporting businesses. These responsibilities will allow the candidate to interact with senior management of our various business units to impact the strategic direction of our company. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with investment banking or finance experience to work at a premier oil and gas operating company. This position will report to the Director of Strategic Planning, and is located in Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience. Essential Job Functions
Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture efforts by preparing strategic, economic, and valuation analyses (DCF, NAV, LBO, merger accretion / dilution, comps, etc.) of opportunities Use relative and absolute valuation methodologies to evaluate the economics of a transaction along with the potential tradeoffs Key contributor in evaluation processes with engineers, geologists, land team, commercial team, and executives Ability to quantify downside risks and upside opportunities to assess the risk/reward of a deal and the overall impact to company value Think through and evaluate various transaction financing scenarios and assist with financing execution Scan public and proprietary data sources for operating metrics in select North American oil and gas basins to be used for M&A valuation purposes Work with company personnel on asset integration following successful transactions Active involvement in the entire due diligence process for deals including data room evaluations, management presentations, and diligence calls Support operations groups within the company by providing analysis on strategic initiatives and helping them understand and align to the company's corporate objectives Perform ad hoc financial analyses to enable the company to most optimally allocate capital Effectively build presentations and communicate financial information to senior level executives Ability to think strategically about implications of allocating capital across different business units with a focus on maximizing the value of the company This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the position.Incumbents will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and duties outside of their normal responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor. Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, or related field 2 years investment banking, finance, or oil and gas experience Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of the organization along with external advisors Strong project management skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills Expert MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word user Ability to build and maintain complex financial models and manage large amounts of data Ability to take ownership of new tasks and problems and solve them with precision and thoughtfulness Team player with intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, an innovative bent, and persistent attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone The physical demands described here are representative of those that mustbe met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job.
