Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Office Assistant in Laurel, Maryland. The role is positioned within an academic setting and requires expertise in data entry, basic office skills, and customer service. The Office Assistant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the smooth operation of our office by performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Responsibilities: Register students for classes on-site and in advance, ensuring all records are updated promptly and accurately. Maintain and update student records meticulously, ensuring data entry is accurate and up-to-date. Provide necessary guidance and instructions to students and staff as required, demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Operate switchboard and manage phone lines, ensuring efficient communication within the office. Utilize MS Excel and Word proficiently for various administrative tasks. Perform filing duties, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files for efficient retrieval. Monitor student accounts and take appropriate action when necessary, demonstrating basic office equipment skills. Resolve customer inquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Perform other office assistant duties as required, demonstrating a commitment to providing comprehensive support to the office and maximizing operational efficiency. Requirements Demonstrable skills in Data Entry and Computer Data Entry Proficiency in Filing and managing office documents Strong Customer Service skills and ability to interact with clients Experience with Switchboard and handling 1 - 10 phone lines Basic Office Skills, including, but not limited to, organization, multitasking, and time management Familiarity with Basic Office Equipment like fax machines, copiers, and scanners Ability to work in a team and contribute to a positive work environment Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work Ability to handle confidential information responsibly Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Professionalism and positive attitude in the workplace.
